Second Pillar – Self Awareness
What is self-awareness? Self-awareness is the understanding to see oneself with objectivity and transparency so that we may improve upon ourselves in academics, relationships, sporting activities, and other endeavors. Greater self-awareness helps us to constantly improve these important areas in our life, making us better and well-rounded individuals.
Our boarding students learn to understand and recognize their own difficulties and challenges as opportunities to arise and reflect upon their strengths to maximize their potential. Students should demonstrate a conscious understanding of their own character, feelings, motives, and desires. The idea of being self-aware is that a student will be able to understand their own limits and areas of growth so they can challenge themselves to mature.
“When I first arrived here, I did not have confidence in English and I didn’t know what I was good at or what my weaknesses were. However, the boarding staff helped me through this difficult time and made me realize the need for time management and goal setting to improve my grades. Thanks to this, I know my limitations and what I need to do to improve my grades. During my time at boarding, I was able to find my weaknesses such as time management and confidence, and together with the boarding staff I am working on these areas.”
