Ms. Jodi is a passionate South African teacher who is new to Malaysia and excited to be part of the Raffles team. Ms. Jodi grew up surrounded by younger siblings and cousins which sparked her desire to follow a career in education. She has a Bachelor of Education specializing in Early Childhood Development and Foundation Phase. She strongly believes in the power of an inquiry approach to build good conceptual understandings across all subjects. She has spent the last 12 years teaching in an IB school with children between the ages of 3 years and 9 years. During this time she learnt the importance of strong foundational skills needed for language and mathematical progress.

Ms. Jodi feels incredibly blessed to work in a career that she finds so rewarding and recognizes the responsibility and influence of her position as an educator. She notes that she is a life-long learner who is passionate about continual personal development and feels her students often teach her just as much as she teaches them. Ms. Jodi believes in the importance of a positive classroom atmosphere with a student-centered approach. She notes the value of a good student-teacher relationship as a prerequisite for meaningful learning to occur and enjoys sharing her sense of humor with her students.
