Accreditation and Memberships
Western Association of School and Colleges |
Raffles American School is honored to have achieved full accreditation status from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in the USA. Raffles American School maintains its accreditation through continuous self reflection and meeting the standards of international pedagogy and was granted immediate accreditation through to the next accreditation cycle. RAS administration is extremely proud of the efforts of our students, teachers and community in creating a quality learning environment worthy of accreditation within the first two years of opening. |
WASC encourages school improvement through a process of continued evaluation and recognizes, through accreditation, schools that meet an acceptable level of quality in accordance with established criteria. In addition to its official title, the acronym WASC, also fittingly means, ‘We Are Student-Centered’. |
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is a world-renowned accrediting association and one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States, working with the Department of State within the United States Government. The philosophy of the Accrediting Commission for Schools centers upon three beliefs: (1) a school’s goal is successful student learning; (2) each school has a clear purpose and school-wide student goals; and (3) a school engages in external and internal evaluations, as part of continued school improvement, to support student learning. Accreditation is integral to a school’s perpetual cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reassessment based on student achievement. |

East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS) |
RAS is proud to be officially welcomed as a full member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS). |
Dr. Dick Krajczar, executive director of EARCOS, visited RAS in April 2015 in response to our application for membership to the organization. Dr. Krajczar was impressed by the friendly students, teachers and staff members. After a visit to our construction site and review of our architectural plans for the permanent campus he applauded RAS on both our current and future educational facilities and programs. |
EARCOS inspires adult and student learning through its leadership and service and fosters intercultural understanding, global citizenship and exceptional educational practices within their learning community. |

International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme |
The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. |
To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. |
These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
Motivated by a Mission By educating students, we can create a better world. The learner profile expresses our mission statement in action.
International-Mindedness We think and work internationally. We welcome the variety of cultures, opinions, languages, and experiences that make up our organization. We acknowledge our own cultural identity but also the cultural diversity of the world we live in.
Quality The quality of our IB programmes is at the heart of our reputation. Our curriculum is challenging, our assessment is rigorous, our teacher training is professionally rewarding. Our processes of school authorization and evaluation “raise the bar” when they are implemented in schools.
Participation and Partnerships We choose to collaborate with and involve as many people as possible in our work. Our curriculum reflects the shared experiences and best practice of thousands of educators from around the world. Many of our services depend on the freely given contributions of professional educators.
Pedagogical Leadership We seek to foster positive attitudes and a love of learning in both teachers and students. |
