A Learning Community that Empowers Students to Achieve their Academic and Life Potential.

Accreditation and Memberships

Western Association of School and Colleges

Raffles American School is honored to have achieved full accreditation status from the Western Association of Schools and Colleges in the USA. Raffles American School maintains its accreditation through continuous self reflection and meeting the standards of international pedagogy and was granted immediate accreditation through to the next accreditation cycle. RAS administration is extremely proud of the efforts of our students, teachers and community in creating a quality learning environment worthy of accreditation within the first two years of opening.
WASC encourages school improvement through a process of continued evaluation and recognizes, through accreditation, schools that meet an acceptable level of quality in accordance with established criteria. In addition to its official title, the acronym WASC, also fittingly means, ‘We Are Student-Centered’.
The Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) is a world-renowned accrediting association and one of the six regional accrediting agencies in the United States, working with the Department of State within the United States Government. The philosophy of the Accrediting Commission for Schools centers upon three beliefs: (1) a school’s goal is successful student learning; (2) each school has a clear purpose and school-wide student goals; and (3) a school engages in external and internal evaluations, as part of continued school improvement, to support student learning. Accreditation is integral to a school’s perpetual cycle of assessment, planning, implementation, monitoring, and reassessment based on student achievement.

East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS)
RAS is proud to be officially welcomed as a full member of the East Asia Regional Council of Schools (EARCOS).
Dr. Dick Krajczar, executive director of EARCOS, visited RAS in April 2015 in response to our application for membership to the organization. Dr. Krajczar was impressed by the friendly students, teachers and staff members. After a visit to our construction site and review of our architectural plans for the permanent campus he applauded RAS on both our current and future educational facilities and programs.
EARCOS inspires adult and student learning through its leadership and service and fosters intercultural understanding, global citizenship and exceptional educational practices within their learning community.
The East Asia Regional Council of Schools is an organization of 146 member schools in East Asia. These schools have a total of more than 110,095 pre-K to 12th grade students. EARCOS also has 156 associate members—textbook and software publishers and distributors, universities, financial planners, architectural firms, insurance companies, youth organizations, etc—and 19 individual members.
Membership in EARCOS is open to elementary and secondary schools in East Asia which offer an educational program using English as the primary language of instruction, and to other organizations, institutions, and individuals interested in the objectives and purposes of the Council.
