Set among lush rolling hills in the fast-growing city of Iskandar, Malaysia, Raffles American School campus accommodates pre-kindergarten through 12th grade students. The 19-hectare school is envisioned as a holistic learning environment that is seamlessly interwoven into its beautiful setting. Given the slope of the site, The campus consists of three main “terraces,” with each terrace occupied by a cluster of grade levels.
Our facilities include technology-integrated classrooms, science labs, visual art, dance and performing arts studios, as well as a performing arts center including a 800 seater auditorium and a black box theater. Our library caters toward students of various reading levels and abilities.
RAS is also the only K-12 school in Southeast Asia to feature its own planetarium, which provides students unique learning opportunities to support our progressive education models and philosophy.
RAS is also home to a senior boarding program, providing pastoral care in five boarding facilities.
The campus also features a host of athletic amenities including: Two separate indoor air-conditioned gymnasiums, an olympic size swimming pool, a shallow training pool, outdoor tennis and basketball courts, soccer field, and stadium which includes a second full size soccer field, track and field, and 400 meter running track.
Sustainability lies within the cultural heart of the school, which is evident in the campus design. The building features passive-cooling techniques such as cross-ventilation and the stack effect, in addition to exterior shading devices. This ensures that, although our school spans over a large area, we have minimized the school’s carbon footprint.
In 2012 Raffles American School’s campus received an award when participating in World Architecture Festival. Placing in the category of “Future – Education” and “Future – Mixed Use” categories.

Hello, my name is Rory and I am in 10th grade at Raffles American School, Malaysia. I joined RAS in 2015 when we were located on a fun but small campus. The new campus that we moved into in 2016 is huge and has amazing facilities. It has two full-sized gymnasiums where we play basketball, badminton, volleyball, and dodgeball, just to name a few. We also have two swimming pools, two football pitches, tennis courts, and a rock-climbing wall. I love sports so I join in as much as possible including any extracurricular activities like triathlons and football tournaments. We have a planetarium as well, and our auditorium is used for big productions like plays and ceremonies. The BlackBox (a free-space theater) is multi-functional and we recently held our Winter Formal there.
