Matt Tilford is originally from the United States and has lived and taught in Venezuela, Myanmar, and Malaysia. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University with a major in History and minors in Political Science and Education, and a Master of Urban Education degree from Union University. In about 10 years of teaching, he has taught social studies and English to every middle and high school grade level. Currently, he is focusing on upper level social science courses including Psychology, Civics and Economics, AP Government, and AP World History. He is a lifelong learner who recently attended an AP Summer Institute in World History, and is currently pursuing his National Board Certification in the U.S. Matt’s approach to teaching is organized and structured, and emphasizes building respectful relationships and student engagement. Matt hopes his students will grow to become active national and global citizens who exercise their potential to bring positive change to the world. Outside of teaching, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife and one year old son, playing the piano, and traveling (when there isn’t a global pandemic).
