Martin and his family come to Raffles from central Texas. After initially attending university to play football, Martin received a B.F.A. in Art from the University of Texas at San Antonio. After several years as a successful self-employed artist, he received his teaching certificate in 2010 in P.E. and Art and has been creating flourishing art and sports programs ever since. He has been an art teacher and coach for the past nine years, both in elementary and high school. In 2012 while teaching abroad in Taiwan, his soccer and track teams competed in national competitions in Taipei. More recently, his 2019 U16 girl’s soccer team won the Texas state championship. In his classroom and on the field, Martin makes every effort to establish an environment of mutual respect. Irrespective of where he lives, he gets to know the people in his community and offers his services in any way he can. Being creative with an engaging personality, he genuinely cares what students have to say, and he understands the importance of building relationships with them and their families. Nothing gives him more pleasure than to assist students in discovering their talents and opening their minds to the innumerable possibilities within.
