Lynsey Taylor is excited to be joining the teaching team at Raffles American School from August 2021. Lynsey holds a BA (Hons) from the Open University, United Kingdom, and completed ITT School-based experience at Manchester Metropolitan University. Moving from the United Kingdom in December 2018, life in Malaysia has allowed Lynsey to experience different educational settings and work to qualify as both a level 5 TEFL/TESOL teacher and certified Microsoft educator. With more than 15 years classroom teaching experience, Lynsey’s passion lies in the subject area of Literacy, which she has had lead, in her previous schools in the UK. In 2020/21, Lynsey completed a series of Microsoft courses encompassing 21st Century Learning Design and Hybrid learning, something which has helped her to utilize her dedication to foster quality education required for a child’s development during these unprecedented times. She strives to create a cooperative community in the classroom, be it online or face to face; modeling for students to understand the importance of mutual respect and cooperation amongst all community members, encouraging and developing a growth mindset.
As a mother of 3, Lynsey is able to see education from two perspectives, as an educator and a parent. She is a firm believer that successful education is the result of productive collaboration between family and school; a mutuality of knowledge, understanding, and empathy, which recognises the critical importance each plays in the development of the whole child in becoming their best selves.
