A Learning Community that Empowers Students to Achieve their Academic and Life Potential.

Library

Our dramatically terraced, open concept library and media center at RAS contains a multitude of seating options for casual reading, a formal Reading classroom, and a variety of study rooms that offer students an inspiring atmosphere in which to study, research, and collaborate. From Kindergarten to 5th Grade, as well in the EIP, students visit the library at least once a week for reading-centric lessons and to exchange books. Students are able to borrow two to five books depending on their grade level and parents are able to check out two books as well.

The RAS Library POWER Standards are based on the

Core Beliefs of the AASL (American Association of School Librarians):

2. Qualified school librarians lead effective school libraries.
3. Learners should be prepared for college, career, and life.
4. Reading is the core of personal and academic competency.
5. Intellectual freedom is every learner’s right.
6. Information technologies must be appropriately integrated and equitably available.
