RAS elementary school had a “spooktacular” Book-o-Ween week. The focus of the week was literacy and a love of reading and books. Children participated in a surprise DEAR (Drop Everything And Read) time each day, and read in some of the strangest places! Mystery readers joined elementary classes and read stories to the children. On October 31st, students strutted their stuff at a costume parade to the sounds of “Monster Mash” and “Thriller”. Some classes also read to their reading buddies to practice reading fluency. In the library, students enjoyed “Scary Stories in the Dark” and read to each other under blankets with flashlights. It was a wonderful week of reading celebrations.
