Elementary Co-Curricular Activities

Aikido

Supervisor: Kentoku budokan aikido

Description: Develop the mind and body. Train with discipline and follow the instructional practice of martial arts. Gain confidence in learning Aikido technique.

Coding and Robotics

Description: A curriculum allowing the students to build projects such as mobile apps computer games robots, IoT, and, 3D, structure. Students turn their ideas into prototypes to solve real life challenges using Design Thinking methodology.

World Scholars Cup

Supervisor: 

Description: The World Scholar’s Cup has grown significantly in recent years to become an international event with more than 15,000 students participating across
50 countries. The event is an inclusive enrichment experience in which students of all backgrounds work together to explore new subjects and practise new skills. Students will participate in Team Debates, Collaborative Writing, Scholar’s Bowl and Scholar’s Challenge.

Description:During this CCA students are introduced to Legends of Learning and Chess.

Classical Ballet

Supervisor: Starlight Academic Studio

Description:In level Pre Ballet, we will train classical ballet posture, ballet technique, sense of rhythms and also a simple dance.
We also will do stretching and cool down exercise in every lesson.

Wushu

Supervisor: Zen Wushu Academy

Description: Wushu, which is also referred to as Kung-Fu, is the collective term for the martial art practices that originated and developed in China, and Wushu is the wellspring of all Asian martial practices. Over its long history, Wushu has developed into numerous distinct styles and systems, each incorporating their own techniques, tactics, principles and methods, as well as the use of a wide variety of traditional weaponry. The differing styles that have emerged focus on many aspects of combat, but more importantly they have absorbed the popular philosophies and moral practices of the people in China over the past 5000 years of development. With that, Wushu has developed into more than just a simple system of attack and defense and has become a way to cultivate the body, mind, and spirit in a positive way that is beneficial to all that practice it.

Gymnastics

Description: Gymnastics is the foundation for all human movement. As children’s physical and mental development grows at rapid rate, gymnastics teaches essential movement patterns and skills that provide a base for future skills and movement to grow from. Through fun and physical activity, students will learn the proper basic movement patterns of balancing, tumbling, skipping, jumping and coordination.

Little Kickers

Supervisor: Little Kickers

Description:Little Kickers is a football program from the UK designed especially for kids for younger age students. We are the home of preschool and kids football. Little Kickers was started in the UK in 2002 by Christine Stanschus and has been a global brand now available in many countries including Malaysia. Firstly, we believe in something we call “Play not Push”. It means teaching football in a fun and pressure-free environment. We want to give children a positive introduction to sport as a whole, not just football, so they’re more likely to stay healthy and active throughout their lives. Secondly, we believe football can be educational. Coached in the right way it can stimulate imagination and aid early development skills such as learning colours and numbers, following instructions and playing as a team. Learn to Swim

Description:During this exciting CCA, students learn the basics of swimming from qualified swimming instructors.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

Supervisor: GFTeam Johor Bahru

Description: Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a grappling-based martial art using takedowns, leverage, and joint manipulations where participants execute practical techniques to intelligently overcome aggressive opponents; focus on discipline, self-defense and personal development. Participants must wear the Gi (uniform & belt) to learn the basics, which will be provided at a cost. Children are taught the fundamentals of BJJ and introduction to BJJ competition.

Advanced Rock Climbing

Description:Beginner Tennis is for students with little to no experience playing tennis. Tennis is a great sport for young athletes that will help improve endurance, agility, coordination, power and overall athletic skills. With continued practice, tennis is one of the few sports that someone can practice throughout the majority of their lives to stay fit.

Board Games

Description: Join the fun of learning through board games, card games and other strategy based games that will help improve critical thinking skills.

Elementary Swim Team

Supervisor: Mr. Jeff & Ms. Karran, Ms. Ann

Description:The Aqua Raptors swim team is only for students that can demonstrate proper form for all four strokes (freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly) and are interested in swimming competitions. Swim Team is open to students 6th – 12th grade, and all swimming speeds are welcome. Aqua Raptors swimmers are expected to attend practice at least 2 days a week.
*Swimmers who cannot show proficiency in swimming will be asked to attend Learn to Swim activity

Football

Description: Learn the basic skills and rules of soccer. Students will practice soccer specific drills aimed to improve coordination, agility, speed and endurance. Furthermore, students will learn the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship through small sided games with friends.

ES Basketball Team

Description: The students playing for the RAS Elementary (Under 9 and Under 11) Basketball Team will improve their basketball skills during fun and engaging practices. In addition to these practices, the RAS basketball teams will participate in some friendly tournaments, which will be held on Tuesday afternoons in Season 2. Students of all ability levels are invited to join.

Taekwondo

Description: Taekwondo is a total learning activity. Lessons are tailored to your child’s age and skill level. Child begins by practicing basic patterns and forms, board breaking, kicking, blocking, striking, and punching. These fundamental skills increase child’s physical coordination, flexibility, balance, and mental acumen. Taekwondo develops child’s athletic abilities and self-awareness, and improves the child’s capabilities in self-defense.

Active Kids

Description: During this CCA the students will play a wide variety of fun playground games.

Muay Thai Boran

Supervisor: Capries Muay Boran

Description: Muay Boran is the traditional form of the Thai martial art Muay Thai. Students will learn the fundamental movements and skills of Muay Boran that focus on strength, balance, coordination and discipline. Martial arts, such as Muay Boran, are a great foundation for all young children to begin developing motor skills that will prepare them later in life for all exercises and sport.

Elementary Street Jazz

Description: Street jazz started in the early 1980s and is perceived as a very sharp and stylish dance form. Its’ main areas focus are style, flexibility and sharpness of movement. It’s widely used in the pop industry.

Wiggle Move

Description: Students will burn up their energy by dancing, wiggling and moving to kid friendly music dance along videos.

Chumbaka Coding and Robotics 

Supervisor: Sigma Wealth Sdn bhd

Description: The students will learn computer programming languages such as Scratch, mBlock, C++ and App Inventor 2. The hardware is the Arduino Uno whereby students may do coding to make interesting projects from the Arduino. Projects can be made with LEDs, Servo motor, Sensors, arduino board and some recycled materials.

* If student’s personal laptop is used, some software will need to be downloaded onto the laptop.

* Student’s laptop should have USB port. If not, student should provide the USB Adaptor.
