Service to the community
AL QUMAIRI
Al Qumairi (formerly Rumah Nur Kasih Langkawi) is a care centre for orphans, the poor and single mothers located in Kampung Ulu Melaka, Langkawi. Students will spend a whole day here giving back to the local community with activities that will help instil a caring and action-oriented service mindset. During the academic year, students could opt into fundraising money to provide the care centre with gifts and necessities, to be delivered upon their excursion to Langkawi.
Morning:
Students will split into groups and work on refurbishing facilities located on site. This can include fixing up and decorating the dorms while the kids are in school, repainting walls and generally increasing the standard of living for those less fortunate.
Afternoon:
As a way of interacting with the community, students can host games and educational fairs for the kids at Al Qumairi to help foster a caring bond between people. Pen pals can also be established that maintain communication throughout the remainder of the year.

Service to the community
KILIM GEOFOREST PARK
As a form of environmental community service, students will spend the day at Kilim Karst Geoforest Park (part of the Langkawi UNESCO Global Geopark), located in the northeast of Langkawi.
Mangrove kayaking and clean-up:
In groups of 40, students are brought along the Kilim river to discover unique mangrove ecosystems only accessible by kayak. Guides will provide nature interpretation along the way and each kayak will be equipped with plastic bags and nets to pick up waste and pollutants along the way, leaving the area cleaner than when we arrived.
Mangrove replanting:
Students travel to the Kilim Mangrove Sanctuary and lend a hand planting different species of mangrove saplings and trees in order to aid in the regeneration of mangrove forests, an environmentally important ecosystem.
